Dear McSweeny Farms Residents,
Starting May 10th, our gym will undergo a flooring replacement project. Due to this project, the gym will be closed for approximately 10 days. During this period, access to the gym and its equipment will not be available for use. To facilitate the flooring replacement project, all gym equipment will be temporarily stored in the clubhouse. As a result, the clubhouse Meeting, Craft & Community Rooms will also be unavailable for use during this time. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we strive to improve our community's facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to enhance our facilities. With the warmer weather, there are more snake sightings in the community.
What is the best thing to do when you see a snake? Leave it alone. Snakes are generally shy and will not attack unless provoked, so it's best to leave them be. If you see a snake inside your home, get all people and pets out of the room immediately. Shut the door, fill the gap underneath with a towel, and then call a professional snake catcher for assistance Never assume a snake isn’t venomous. Always use caution with all snakes. 1. Do not approach, handle, move, or kill snakes – most bites happen in these situations! 2. Use lights when walking at night. 3. Look before placing your hands and feet. 4. Create clear, wide paths throughout your yard for safe walking. 5. Don't feed or water your pets or wildlife on the ground. As we welcome the warmer weather, it's essential to be mindful of the presence of coyotes in our neighborhood. These smart and adaptable canines have learned to coexist with humans, but it's crucial to take precautions to prevent conflicts and ensure everyone's safety. Here are some important tips from the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife to help you handle encounters with coyotes: - Coyotes are smart adaptable canines that have learned to live comfortably alongside people in residential neighborhoods. Wildlife experts agree that people have played a part in this phenomenon by being careless with food and garbage. - Coyotes play an important role in the ecosystem, helping to keep rodent populations under control. They are by nature fearful of humans. However, if coyotes are given access to human food and garbage, their behavior changes. They lose caution and fear. They may begin to harass domestic livestock and pets. They might threaten human safety. They might be killed. - Relocating a problem coyote is not an option because it only moves the problem to another neighborhood. - Help prevent human-coyote conflicts. "Coyote country" precautions: Never feed or attempt to tame coyotes. The result may be deadly conflicts with pets or livestock, or serious injuries to small children. Do not leave small children or pets outside unattended. Be aware that coyotes are more active in the spring, when feeding and protecting their young. If followed by a coyote, make loud noises. If this fails, throw rocks in the animal’s direction. By following these precautions, we can help prevent human-coyote conflicts and ensure the safety of our community. Thank you.
